Dante's moveset seems pretty cool from the outside, too, but taking away the grapple mobility from Nero really hurts and I'm not a fan of stance/weapon change stuff so I mostly just stayed on one set most of the time, which makes Dante feel much less expressive than Nero despite their personalities being the opposite of that. Going back through them as dante honestly wasn't that bad since you mostly just run past all the puzzles, but the endless spawning of creatures to fight if you slightly mess up or get lost started to feel more like a chore than a fun game. It's the last vestiges of the Resident Evil backbone the series started with, but so watered down that the navigation and level gimmicks only frustrate and annoy rather than actually adding anything. I still think Nero's moveset is up there with the best in the genre, but the level design is even harder to deal with now. Despite not having a will to play it second time any time soon compare to DMC3 where i would clearly play on at least high/vergil before being done with it (if i didn't had DMC4/5 to play) - DMC4 is surly a great game worthy of playing.ġ1h Played Weaker on replay than the first time around since I've played a lot more 3d brawlers since. Overall tho - game is great and i crazy enjoyed it - especially the loop of improving when i played SoS difficulty as first-time player - it was great expirence to get oblitered, learning and totally crashing the moment what destroyed me just an dozens of minutes up to hour ago. DMC4 infamous backtracking already feels like you playing game twice in one playthrough what is exhousting. But overall DMC4 for playing the game just once is a clear winner BUT for repeating the game i need to agree with most people - DMC3 is a clear winner.

DMC3 had better bosses and the boss-rush is hella better in DMC3 as well. there is a few cases where DMC4 just sucks, same for DMC3) Bosses. Locations/missions are better (on avarage ofc. Enemies are more fun/enjoyable compare to DMC3 ones - where i asked myself quite a few times 'Who designed that'. Gonna say it - DMC4 for first playthrough is better than DMC3. From what i heard it supposed to be a great downgrade BUT it ended up as opposite case for me.
